Rob Edwards along with O'Neil represent the early candidates in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend following the team's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

And both candidates - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the club ownership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the former Luton manager - who made more than 100 of games for the club during his playing career - is considered a strong candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they begin the search of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is additionally emerging as a surprise candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment given he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
